Bjarke Ingels Magazine Spread

Brief: Design a magazine layout using article text from an existing article you find. Only high resolution images may be used. All body copy must be placed in linked text frames. You must use character and paragraph styles. A headline, subhead, body copy, and a pull quote is required. Your headline must be well-designed and attractive.

Solution: I came up with the idea of a magazine spread on Bjarke Ingels after watching an episode of “Abstract” in which he was featured on Netflix. The uniqueness of his architecture made an impression. He is well known and there were many great photos of his work. My favorite building is the “Lego” building featured on the cover. I used Lego building blocks as inspiration for the border art and the rectangular picture frames. I decided on a more minimal layout in an attempt to mimic the clean lines of his buildings. The typeface, Jaapokki, reminded me of the Lego building blocks and was used for the headline.
